theredshoes: Of the thousands of cultural portrayals of Joan of Arc over the years one of the earliest was Les Vigiles de Charles VII by Martial d’Auvergne written from 1477 to 1483 as a liturgical poem about the Hundred Years War. The original manuscript is now held by the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, France and contained within it are many “miniature portraits” depicting significant events in the career of Joan of Arc.
